Henrietta Public Library Ad Campaign

The Henrietta Public Library is the main source of information, technology, and entertainment for many in Henrietta. In addition to its selection of books of all genres, the HPL serves as a study space, conference center, play area, and an epicenter of knowledge.

Unique to the HPL is its emphasis on creativity, imagination, and resourcefulness. This is showcased by its wide variety of programs (almost 100 of them) for all ages, and the supportive and easygoing relationship patrons have with the librarians.

Challenge: design three print ads to advertise the HPL within the community, while persuading their audiences to become habitual library users.

Researching Personas & User Stories

By focusing on the three audiences that most frequently visit the HPL, I created a campaign to educate, empower, and connect people the way the library aims to do. In doing so, I designed ads based on compelling types of advertising strategy:

Informative— share important information
Persuasive— elicit emotion
Narrative— tell a story

This is excellent work, all of it, but particularly the persuasive ad. I love the personas— I’m always telling staff to try thinking this way.
